Ring Power is Florida’s Caterpillar dealer, tracing to 1961 when Caterpillar appointed L.C. Ringhaver its official engine dealer, followed by a full-line Caterpillar dealership in 1962. The company serves earthmoving and excavation, paving and road building, construction, utility equipment, power and energy, air compressors, marine power, logistics and material handling, cranes and heavy lifting, and forestry. Governmental procurement is a named line of business, covering equipment, power generation and engine needs for Florida townships, cities, counties and state agencies. Public buyers can purchase, rent or lease through the Florida Construction and Industrial State Bid, the Florida Sheriffs Association and Florida Association of Counties cooperative bid, and Sourcewell. Beyond the sale the company offers machine selection and application advice, equipping, and customised support and maintenance programmes over the life of a machine. Ring Power grew from DESCO, a St. Augustine shrimp trawler builder that by 1952 was the world’s largest and by the late 1950s Florida’s single largest Caterpillar engine customer.
