Your Privacy Choices

If you would rather we held nothing about you at all, use this form. A person reads every request and replies to you.

There are two choices here, and they are not the same size. The first takes a click and applies to this browser. The second removes you from everything we hold and cannot be undone. Most people want the first one.

1. Change this browser now

Instant. No details needed. Applies to this browser on this device.

Modern Public Fleet is free to read because advertising pays for it. You can choose how your information is used for that advertising. This applies to this browser on this device, and it takes effect as soon as you save it.

This stops us using what you read here to target advertising to you on other websites. You will still see ads, and they will still be relevant to public fleet work. It does not delete anything and it does not stop your newsletter.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we have already done this for you, automatically, and the status above will say so. Do Not Track does nothing, here or anywhere: no agreed standard for what a site should do with it was ever settled.

Details saved on this device

This browser has saved the name, email and organization details you typed into our forms, so you do not have to type them again. Clearing them does not change your newsletter subscription, your advertising choices, or anything we hold about you. Those are separate, above.

2. Be removed from everything we hold

Handled by a person, applies everywhere we hold your details, and cannot be undone.

How this differs from the choice above

The control above is stored in your browser, so it applies to this browser on this device and it changes nothing in our records. This form is the opposite. We record it against you by hand, so it applies everywhere we hold your details, on every device, and it deletes what we hold. Use the control above for an immediate change here. Use this form to be removed from our records.

What the signals do, and which one you need

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we already switch off advertising personalization for you, automatically, on every visit. Your Privacy Choices in the footer does the same on this device if your browser does not send that signal. Neither of them deletes anything, and neither stops your newsletter.

This form is different, and it is bigger than both.

Do Not Track does nothing, here or anywhere. No agreed standard for what a site should do with it was ever settled.

What we cannot do

What we will do: stop sending your information to the advertising and analytics services we use.

What we cannot do: make Google forget you. Google builds its advertising audiences with its own tag, from cookies and device signals rather than from your name or address, so there is no record on their side for us to find you in and remove. You will probably still see ads, and some may still be based on your browsing. To change that, use Google’s own ad settings and the industry opt-out tools run by the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance.

What happens next

A person handles this, not a script. We reply to the email address you gave us, because being able to answer from that address is what tells us the request is yours. That reply is part of the process, not a courtesy.

When we remove you, we keep one thing on purpose: your email address on a suppression list. It exists so that a later import or upload cannot add you back by accident. It is never mailed and it is used for nothing else. Keeping it is what makes the removal stick.

If you later choose to subscribe, download a resource, or contact a supplier through our directory, we will treat that as a new request from you and act on it. Your earlier opt-out does not block something you ask us for yourself. It does keep you out of any list we import or buy.

Your request

We ask for as little as we can. We do not want your address, date of birth, or any identity document, and you should not send them. We confirm a request by replying to the email address we hold, so that address is what matters here.

This removes you from everything, and we cannot undo it.

That includes The Sightline and any other email you signed up for, any resource you have downloaded from us, and the record of who you are. This is not a way to stop the advertising and keep the newsletter. If you want to hear from us again later, you will have to sign up again from scratch.

If you only want fewer emails, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any newsletter. If you only want the advertising tracking stopped, use Your Privacy Choices in the footer of any page. Neither of those deletes anything.
