Equipment for mounting and securing firearms in law enforcement vehicles.
Santa Cruz Gunlocks has supplied the law enforcement community with equipment for mounting and securing firearms for more than 30 years. Its products are modular weapon mounting systems, built so the gun rack adjusts to the firearm rather than requiring the firearm to be reconfigured to fit the rack. The SC-1 pump shotgun lock descends from a Smith & Wesson design of the early 1930s, which the company improved in 1988 by adding a manual key override so the lock can be opened during a power failure; that Camlock design became the industry standard for pump shotgun locks. The SC-1 AR Large Gunlock followed around 1990, after departments asked for a larger lock for patrol rifles and semi-automatic shotguns, adding an adjustable plate in the weapon cavity, and the SC-1-B Barrel Lock grips the barrel of most shotguns and rifles and is favoured by correctional institutions and the US Border Patrol. The patented SC-6 Universal Gunlock arrived in 2003 and secures a wide variety of firearms in one rack, ratcheting a stainless steel arm down onto a chosen point on the weapon, which touches only soft rubber. The range extends to universal rail gun racks in single and dual configurations, including muzzle-down, overhead and partition-mounted setups, and the company sells through a distributor network.
