Federal Signal Updates MicroPulse Ultra D-Pillar Lighting Packages
New ELSX series replaces ELSD models, dropping the built-in expansion module for added flexibility

Federal Signal has replaced its MicroPulse Ultra D-Pillar lighting ELSD series with a new ELSX series, dropping the bundled EXPMOD24 expansion module from the base package.
The change lets buyers select a separate expansion module to match their connectivity requirements and budget rather than taking the one previously built into the kit. The ELSX packages otherwise retain the same complete-system build as the ELSD line.
Each package ships with six MPS6U tri-color light heads, two shroud and bracket assemblies, and three harnesses. Buyers choose between two tri-color combinations: Red/Blue/White or Red/Blue/Amber. The vacuum-formed shrouds mount to a vehicle’s rear pillars with 3M VHB tape. The system requires a Convergence Network or FSJoin siren or controller, sold separately.
The packages carry SAE J845 Class 1 and SAE J595 Class 1 certifications, an IP67 ingress-protection rating, and CCR Title 13 approval. Federal Signal backs the units with a five-year warranty.
Federal Signal markets the line under its FS Technologies division. Replacement modules for fleets already running ELSD units are referenced in the updated ELSX model listing; Federal Signal has published the new model numbers and the compatible EXPMOD options alongside that documentation.
