Overview
The Florida Sheriffs Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation made up of Florida’s 67 sheriffs along with more than 100,000 citizens, business leaders and law enforcement officers. Founded in 1893, it is Florida’s oldest law enforcement association and, by its own account, the largest in the nation, with full participation from every sheriff in the state. Its Cooperative Purchasing Program, run in partnership with the Florida Association of Counties and the Florida Fire Chiefs Association, has operated since 1993 and offers statewide purchasing contracts. Eligible buyers include local governments, county sheriffs, county government, local county boards, municipalities, police agencies, other local public and public safety agencies, and state universities and colleges. The association also hosts the Executive Leadership Conference and Fleet Exposition, whose vendor hall and outdoor vehicle display cover pursuit rated vehicles, heavy equipment and fire rescue and emergency service vehicles, and which is aimed at fleet managers and purchasing agents alongside sheriffs and command staff.
