Kerr Industries

Kerr Industries engineers, manufactures, and installs custom vehicle enhancements, specializing in upfitting for law enforcement and emergency vehicles.

Overview

Kerr Industries upfits law enforcement and emergency vehicles, and has built its business on that work since 1952. Since 1995 the company has been General Motors’ exclusive second stage manufacturer and Tier 1 supplier for Tahoe, Silverado, Blazer, Caprice and Impala vehicles modified for police use, working with GM to design, validate and engineer each Special Equipment Option. It also upfits Dodge and Ram police vehicles including the Charger Pursuit, Durango Pursuit and Ram 1500 Special Service, and builds K-9 transport systems with window guards, door popper systems, temperature monitoring and dividers for two dogs. As a Tier 1 supplier Kerr holds to OEM production and quality systems, maintains FMVSS and CMVSS compliance, labels wiring consistently from vehicle to vehicle, and states that its work does not void the factory warranty. Its Integration Engineering approach designs the complete installation around the agency’s equipment and operational needs, bridging aftermarket equipment manufacturers and the vehicle OEM, and is offered whether or not the equipment is purchased from Kerr. Orders can run through OEM Ship Thru codes, routing the vehicle from the assembly plant to a Kerr facility for upfit before it re-enters the OEM shipping system for delivery, and its upfitting technicians are EVT certified.
