Avail Technologies

Pioneering total transit solutions: myAvail delivers comprehensive enterprise solutions that are smart, reliable and convenient.

Overview

Avail Technologies builds intelligent transportation systems for public transit, working from State College, Pennsylvania since 1999. Its myAvail enterprise transit management software goes beyond CAD and AVL to cover operations, fleet maintenance, rider information, finance and administration on a single shared database, with business intelligence dashboards reporting metrics in real time to support efficiency, funding requests and compliance. Riders are notified of changes immediately, dispatchers see the location of every bus and driver, and incidents are tracked as they occur. A VoIP option carries voice communications over the public cellular data network through myAvail, which the company presents as a way to improve on an existing radio system at lower capital cost. Avail has deliberately stayed mid-sized and focused on transit operators with medium-sized fleets, and says it is the only systems integrator to limit its pursuits to a single market segment. Rick Spangler was appointed president and chief executive in January 2025 as the company continued its transition to 100 percent employee ownership, and it runs an annual user conference called Engage.
