Louisville Plans to Double Its Drone as First Responder Fleet
City moves to expand drone program to speed emergency response times.

A municipal drone program is planning to double the number of unmanned aircraft it fields ahead of ground responders, with Louisville building on an existing Drone as First Responder fleet that pre-positions aircraft before police and fire units arrive on scene.
The city has not disclosed how many drones currently operate under the program, how many it plans to add, or what the expansion will cost.
The DFR model dispatches unmanned aircraft immediately upon a call, giving commanders an aerial view of an incident before the first unit reaches the scene. Louisville’s program applies that approach across both police and fire response.
