Editorial Policy
Who we are
Modern Public Fleet is an independent trade publication for the people who run public fleets: city, county, state, federal and public university. We are published by Modern Fleet Media. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any manufacturer, supplier or association we cover.
What we publish
Reporting — original articles on fleet operations, staffing, budgeting, procurement and policy, written by named journalists.
Industry Updates — shorter briefs on supplier products, contracts and company news, written by our staff from manufacturer and agency announcements.
FleetPedia — a reference of fleet terms and concepts, written from primary sources and reviewed by a named editor.
Solutions Guide — a directory of suppliers serving public fleets, compiled and verified by our team.
How we source
We prefer primary sources: the agency, the standards body, the statute, the manufacturer. Where a claim is specific enough that a reader could reasonably ask “says who?”, we cite it. Where figures from different authorities conflict, we say so rather than pick one.
We do not use competitors’ articles as a source of facts.
Supplier and agency announcements
Industry Updates originate in announcements from manufacturers, suppliers and public agencies. We select which ones matter to public fleets, write them in our own words, and name the source. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and an Industry Update is never sold.
Images
We publish images from wire services, the supplier or agency concerned, or government sources. Every image carries a credit.
Advertising
Advertising and sponsorship are clearly labelled and never influence what we cover. Our Solutions Guide includes both free and paid listings; paid placement affects visibility within the directory and never our editorial judgment. Advertising questions go to advertise@modernpublicfleet.com.
