Caterpillar Agrees to Acquire Dealer With 37 Locations, Pending Regulatory Approval

A Cat dealer with more than a century of operations across portions of Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is set to be acquired by Caterpillar Inc., pending regulatory approval.

Caterpillar has agreed to purchase John Fabick Tractor Company, known as Fabick Cat, which operates 37 locations across that territory. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days, subject to regulatory clearance and other customary closing conditions. No purchase price was disclosed.

Fabick has served as an authorized Cat dealer for more than 100 years, supplying construction equipment, aerial lifts and emergency power generation products across its service area. Caterpillar reported 2025 sales and revenues of $67.6 billion.

“Caterpillar and Cat dealers share a common mission of solving our customers’ toughest challenges,” Joe Creed, Caterpillar chairman and CEO, said in a written statement. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Fabick team to build on a century of success, further strengthen the customer experience and drive long-term growth across the service territory.”

Fabick chairman, CEO and dealer principal Jeré Fabick said the company is “incredibly proud of our team and the customer relationships we’ve built over the past 100 years,” Fabick chief operating officer Todd Stanley, also quoted in the announcement, said the transition “will enhance our ability to provide our customers with unmatched services, technology and expertise.”

Caterpillar described the agreement as a customer-focused decision to support an ownership transition while preserving existing service levels across the dealer’s footprint.

Whether and when regulators will approve the deal has not been determined.
