Caterpillar Inc.

Heavy construction equipment / Medium-duty construction equipment

Overview

Caterpillar sells to state and local government through its Cat Governmental program, which pairs the dealer network with procurement resources built for public agencies: a yearly Buyers’ Guide to Governmental Solutions, a downloadable lifecycle cost calculator that adds lifetime maintenance, repair and fuel to purchase price and subtracts resale, bid specification tools and the Cat Governmental Solutions magazine.

Agencies can buy through cooperative contracts rather than writing their own RFP: Sourcewell contracts for medium-duty construction equipment (motor graders, excavators, backhoe loaders, dozers, compact track loaders), roadway paving equipment, power generation and rental; an OMNIA Partners contract for heavy equipment rental and sales; and a NASPO contract for heavy construction and industrial equipment. Local Cat dealers provide service, technology and the CVA service commitment behind the purchase.
