A 455-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro SS equipped with the 1LE performance package is preparing to enter California Highway Patrol service as the last Camaro the agency will add to its fleet.

The California Highway Patrol’s Fleet Operations unit announced the addition on Instagram, saying the vehicle would deploy the following week. The agency has not disclosed which district or post will receive it, and in the announcement invited followers to guess the deployment location.

The car looks to carry a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8 rated at 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Patrol-spec examples are built with the 10-speed automatic transmission rather than the six-speed manual. The 1LE package adds track-focused suspension and cooling upgrades, Brembo brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential and wider performance tires.

Chevrolet ended sixth-generation Camaro production at its Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan on Dec. 13, 2023. Finding unregistered inventory nearly three years after the line closed would ordinarily be difficult, and the agency’s announcement does not explain how this unit remained available for fleet entry in 2026.

The vehicle is photographed in traditional CHP black-and-white livery with emergency lighting and police equipment installed. No successor Camaro model has been announced by Chevrolet, and the agency’s post does not reference any future Camaro procurement.

Where the vehicle will be assigned has not been announced.
