Tennessee Department of Transportation has selected Geotab as its new fleet data and telematics provider following a multi-phase pilot review process, the company announced.
The contract equips TDOT’s fleet with Geotab’s core telematics technology and integrated forward-facing camera solutions. The deployment centers on vehicle visibility and camera upfitting, with the stated aim of surfacing equipment metrics including power take-off (PTO) engagement and onboard sensor data across the full range of state highway assets, from snowplows to specialized highway equipment.
“For a DOT, a vehicle isn’t just a vehicle, it’s a sophisticated mobile asset performing a critical public service, and the technology behind it has to match that responsibility,” said Neil Garrett, VP of Public Sector at Geotab. “Geotab is purpose-built for exactly this kind of complexity.”
Garrett added that the partnership gives TDOT “a unified picture of every asset on the road, so they can focus on what matters: keeping Tennessee’s infrastructure moving safely and efficiently.”
Geotab’s platform carries ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC2, FIPS 140-3 and FedRAMP authorizations. The company processes 100 billion data points daily, connects approximately 6 million vehicles and assets and counts more than 100,000 customers, ranging from small and mid-size fleets to Fortune 500 enterprises and public-sector organizations. Geotab also serves as sole-source telematics supplier to the entire U.S. federal fleet and said it remains the leading telematics standard for state departments of transportation and public administrations nationwide.
