Hemet Approves $342,000 in Measure U Funds for Police Fleet
The California city's consent calendar directs local sales-tax revenue toward patrol vehicle purchases.

Hemet, Calif., has placed a resolution to purchase and equip 12 police vehicles and motorcycles on its Sept. 8 consent calendar at a total quoted cost of $943,305.93, with $342,000 in Measure U local sales-tax revenue directed toward the buy.
Resolution 2026-147, listed as Consent Calendar item 18.F with Staff Report #26-298, covers nine 2027 Ford Police Interceptor Utilities, including one K9 unit; one 2026 Ford Maverick; and two 2026 BMW RT-P motorcycles.
The adopted fiscal 2026-27 budget carries a $1,029,000 appropriation for the purchase. Of that, $687,000 comes from the Vehicle Replacement Fund and $342,000 from Measure U, charged to account 115.09.1000.65400. Staff noted no new appropriation is required.
Vendors identified in the packet include Peoria Ford, Tim Moran Ford of Hemet and BMW of San Marcos for the vehicles; AEP for upfitting; and Dungeon Wraps for decals.
The Hemet City Council had not yet acted on the resolution. Absent a pull request, the item would be voted with the rest of the consent calendar at the Sept. 8 meeting.
