BMW Motorrad

BMW Motorrad is the motorcycle division of BMW, designing and manufacturing premium motorcycles, scooters, and mobility solutions.

Overview

BMW Motorrad USA equips police, fire, customs, escort, disaster response and military organizations with authority motorcycles through its Special Customers organization. The bikes are developed by BMW Motorrad itself and built fully assembled at its Berlin factory, then adapted to local lighting and equipment requirements by a BMW Motorrad USA dealer, drawing on more than 90 years of special-vehicle manufacturing.

The current authority model is the R 1300 RT-P, succeeding the R 1250 RT-P. United States deployments described on its site include 33 R 1250 RT-P motorcycles for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police, used for presidential motorcades, dignitary and funeral escorts and parades, along with El Monte, North Palm Beach and Woodcliff Lake police departments. BMW offers training and servicing for the machines from the same source as the sale.
