New Updates: 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Public Fleet Spec Guide

Seven trims, four revised engines, and the published ratings, capacities and chassis specifications a specification writer needs, with the figures that need confirming flagged.

Chevrolet has published a full specification for the 2027 Silverado 1500, and for public fleets the trim that matters most has not changed. Work Truck is still the truck Chevrolet builds for the job: engineered for day-in, day-out uptime, configured for the upfits public works and utility crews order, with V8s the company says are tuned for the durability fleet managers want.

One naming change affects paperwork above that trim. LT becomes Silverado for 2027, and the lineup moves from nine trims to seven. A specification or replacement schedule that still calls for an LT should be updated before the next order.

Beyond the rename, the specification itself is the story. All four engines are new or revised, the top of the trailering chart moves from the diesel to a gas V8, and MSRP on the trims fleets actually order barely moves once 2026 and 2027 are priced the same way. Here is the specification Chevrolet has released.

2027 trims and starting price

2027 trim Was, in 2026 Starting MSRP, including DFC
Work Truck WT $41,395
Custom Custom $46,395
Silverado LT $50,695
Custom Trail Boss Custom Trail Boss $57,195
Trail Boss LT Trail Boss $63,995
High Country High Country $74,495
ZR2 ZR2 $79,995

Chevrolet heads its price list “STARTING MSRP (INCLUDING DFC)” and states that Silverado is the trim “formerly LT.” These are 2027 figures including the destination freight charge; the price comparison below strips that charge from both years so it can be compared honestly.

The diesel loses the trailering lead

For 2026, Chevrolet published one lineup-wide trailering maximum, 13,300 lb., offered by the 3.0L Duramax. For 2027 it publishes trailering by cab and engine, and the highest figure on the sheet is 13,700 lb., for the new 5.7L V8 in a double cab 2WD with the Max Trailering Package. The Duramax is listed at 12,000 lb. in a crew cab 4WD with that package, meaning a gas engine now holds the published lead.

The 6.6L V8’s own trailering figure is worth confirming separately. At 481 hp and 501 lb.-ft., the most powerful engine in the lineup, it is published at 9,700 lb. of maximum trailering in a crew cab 4WD, well under the 13,500 lb. Chevrolet rates the 5.7L for in the same configuration.

Base payload runs the other direction, with the smallest engine on top. The 2.7L TurboMax carries 2,340 lb. in a regular cab 2WD, ahead of 2,170 lb. for the 5.7L, 1,870 lb. for the Duramax and 1,510 lb. for the 6.6L. Chevrolet published a maximum available payload of 2,260 lb. for 2026 and has not published a maximum for 2027, so the two years are not comparable on payload; the 2027 base figures are the only solid ground.

Gross vehicle weight ratings run from 6,900 lb. to 7,500 lb. depending on cab, drivetrain, bed and the Max Trailering Package, which raises GVWR along with trailering and adds an extra-capacity cooling system. Chevrolet has not published a gross combined weight rating for 2027; fleets sizing a truck-and-trailer combination will need to request it directly.

The 6.6L’s crew cab figure, 9,700 lb., is the lowest maximum trailering rating of the four 2027 engines; the 5.7L in the same configuration is rated 13,500 lb. Worth confirming on an order guide.

Starting price, 2026 to 2027

These are MSRP figures, read from Chevrolet’s consumer pages for both years so freight, tax and fees are excluded on the same basis for each. Chevrolet has not yet published fleet or commercial incentive pricing for 2027, so the figures below are not what a fleet will ultimately pay, only the published starting point.

Work Truck rises $1,700, or 4.6%. Custom rises $1,200, or 2.8%. Silverado, the trim formerly called LT, is unchanged at $47,900 for both years, on a truck that now adds Z71 as standard on 4WD, a bigger digital cockpit (the center screen grows to 16.3 inches, up from 13.4, and the driver display to 12.2, up from 12.3), and three driver-assistance features, intersection automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking and reverse automatic braking, that were not standard before. The off-road and premium trims move more sharply and are in the table for reference, but they sit outside where a public fleet order typically lands.

Engine-by-trim availability for 2027 has not been published. Chevrolet listed that pairing for 2026, with the TurboMax standard on Work Truck through LT Trail Boss and the Duramax standard on ZR2; the only 2027 fitment detail in the release concerns Super Cruise, standard on High Country and ZR2 and orderable on Trail Boss and Silverado. Fleets specifying a particular engine should treat the 2026 pairing as a starting point rather than a certainty. Adaptive cruise control carries the same open question: available on a 2026 Work Truck, and absent from the three features Chevrolet names as standard for 2027.

The parts side of the spec is more settled. Brake rotors are one size front and one size rear across the lineup, 13.5 in. and 13.6 in. vented, so a shop stocking pads and rotors is stocking for one truck rather than seven trims. Wheels and tires run wider, with five wheel sizes and nine tire sizes, four of them LT-rated, from a 17-inch steel wheel on the work trims to a 22-inch on High Country. Axle ratio is 3.23 with the 5.7L, 6.6L and Duramax, and 3.42 with the TurboMax.

Timing

The 2027 Silverado 1500 goes on sale at the end of 2026, built at GM full-size truck assembly facilities in North America. Figures here come from Chevrolet’s 2027 release and specification sheet, and from its 2026 and 2027 model pages for the price comparison. Where Chevrolet has not published a number, this guide says so rather than estimating one.
