First Student is the largest student transportation provider in North America: more than 48,000 vehicles including electric buses, 530-plus locations, and 4.8 million student journeys a day, adding up to over 865 million journeys a year. Districts contract with it for home-to-school service, special needs transportation, alternative (non-yellow-bus) transportation, and charter work. Its HALO technology platform connects the operation, including First View, the vehicle tracking app for districts and parents. The company also builds charging infrastructure through First Charge as it electrifies its fleet, and was named to the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list in 2026.
