The Town of Queen Creek, Arizona, won the inaugural Most Successful Fleet award at the RTA: The Fleet Success Company Fleet Success Awards, presented at RTA Connect 2026 in Chicago.

“Every fleet manager wants to know if what they’re doing is actually working,” said Josh Turley, CEO of RTA: The Fleet Success Company. “The Fleet Success Awards give us a way to hold up five fleets that stopped guessing and proved it, both in their numbers and in how they run their operations every day.”

Marc Canton, vice president of fleet strategy at RTA Fleet, said judging used a blind review by five former fleet managers and centered on the same four pillars RTA uses for its own benchmarking work. “What stood out this year wasn’t just strong metrics,” Canton said, according to RTA. “It was fleets that used their data to actually change how they operate.”

Four category awards accompanied the top prize.

Queen Creek took the top award for performance across all four judging pillars: resource efficiency, intentional culture, risk management and stakeholder satisfaction. The fleet keeps 79% of maintenance work scheduled, against a 70% industry benchmark, posts 81% of technician hours as direct labor and holds 97.6% on-time preventive maintenance compliance against a 95% internal target. The fleet has grown from 779 to 804 licensed assets.

Risk management practices include driver vehicle inspection report documentation tied to every unit, certification and license tracking, standardized Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards coding and a test database that validates system changes before production rollout. The team has also integrated Geotab data to reduce manual processes.

DATTCO, Inc., one of New England’s largest family-owned transportation companies, received the Resource Efficiency award. Its operation spans 2,099 active motorcoach, school bus and maintenance assets across multiple facilities and posts 94.98% average availability across that mix. Technician direct-labor hours run at 84%, above the 74% to 79% industry benchmark. A 45-mechanic workforce operates under cross-facility permission controls to protect cost accuracy, and an EFI integration with FuelForce and Corpay automates fuel transaction processing and meter updates. DATTCO added 280 assets to Fleet360 through four license expansions in under a year.

The City of Frisco, Texas, received the Stakeholder Satisfaction award. Since migrating to RTA Fleet360 in August 2024, Frisco has built a user base of 43 active contacts across six departments: Fleet Services, Fire, IT, Logistics, Purchasing and Administration. The city benchmarks against 100 Best Fleets standards and has invested in Fleet Replacement Analysis to support capital planning. Its IT team is building an application programming interface integration with PSD Citywide, the city’s enterprise asset management platform, to extend fleet data beyond the fleet department.

During its transition to RTA Fleet360, the team evaluated potential impacts to compliance, data integrity and operational continuity before making changes, and after more than six months of exclusive Fleet360 use, it reports fewer support issues than comparable implementations.
