General Motors has launched OnStar Fleet Intelligence, a connected fleet management platform that consolidates asset tracking, order management, diagnostic data, risk management and total operating cost into a single account.

“Our fleet customers need simple, intuitive tools to manage their vehicles and efficiently manage operating costs,” said Ian Hucker, vice president of GM Fleet. Hucker added that the platform “meets this need head-on, streamlining complex data into one accessible dashboard so business owners can focus less on administrative hurdles and more on efficiently scaling their operations.”

The platform gives users a single login to renew OnStar software and connected-services plans, track vehicle orders, monitor diagnostic data including fuel efficiency and range, and configure geofencing and vehicle protection. Fleets that carry a Fleet Account Number can link it directly to the account, pulling all vehicles under that number into one view regardless of make, equipment or OnStar plan tier. The platform requires a connected-services plan; diagnostic capabilities vary by vehicle model, and emergency and security services are not included.

Two tools handle the analytics layer. Fleet Insights is designed to surface patterns across vehicles, routes and drivers that would be difficult to spot in single-vehicle or single-report views, with fuel-cost trend analysis cited as a primary use case. The OnStar Fleet AI Assistant, also built into the platform, accepts natural language queries, returning results such as per-vehicle idling totals for a given month or a ranked utilization list without manual report generation. Arnie Magnotta, vice president of OnStar Services and Digital Commerce, said the platform extends what OnStar has offered since its launch more than 30 years ago. “This new platform builds on that legacy of innovation to transform fleet management, turn data into insights, and help our customers grow and scale their businesses,” Magnotta said.

Access is currently limited to select GM Fleet customers, with additional accounts coming on board through a phased rollout.
