Three government-facing workflow categories and four platform components mark the scope of Google Public Sector’s Gemini for government services, which the company unveiled October 20, 2026, at its Google Public Sector Summit ’26 in Washington. The platform is now in preview for U.S. federal, state and local agencies, with the State of Missouri and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services among the early adopters.

Gemini for government services follows Google Public Sector’s earlier Gemini releases for legal and financial services and is built on the same governed Gemini platform. The government version adds skills, connectors and partner agents tuned specifically to public-sector workflows, including Freedom of Information Act redactions, Federal Acquisition Regulation cross-referencing and plain-language translation of regulatory notices. The platform pulls answers from official regulations and an agency’s own files, linking responses to the originating source page and paragraph, and inherits existing identity and access management controls through integrations directly into agency systems of record. Agency and constituent data stays within the organization’s cloud perimeter; base models are not trained on customer data without consent.

The four core components are purpose-built skills, connectors, third-party partner agents and the underlying Gemini platform. The skills layer covers tasks such as digesting federal and state regulations, evaluating vendor qualifications and optimizing acquisition processes. The connector layer reaches collaboration tools including Google Workspace, Microsoft SharePoint, Outlook 365, Salesforce and ServiceNow, government data sources including eCFR, regulations.gov and the Federal Register through BLEN, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications through custom Oracle connectors. Governance, audit logging and risk management are built into the platform architecture and surfaced through a centralized control plane.

The partner ecosystem includes Accenture Federal Services, Clutch, Dark Wolf, Daston, Deloitte, Egen, Game Plan Tech, Knexus, Onix, Resultant, SAIC, Slalom and SZNS Solutions.

On the workflow side, the procurement and compliance module automates cross-referencing vendor bids against multi-volume requests for proposal and Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements, generates auditable decision justifications and scores submissions against standardized rubrics. The constituent engagement module classifies and mathematically validates citizen-submitted documents such as paystubs, W-2s and lease agreements, and translates regulatory language into plain notices, which Google Public Sector said is designed to support compliance with the Federal Plain Writing Act of 2010 and applicable state regulations.

“To deploy agentic capabilities in the public sector requires non-negotiable standards for security, confidentiality, and data sovereignty,” Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said in the announcement. “Gemini for government services provides a secure environment for agencies to automate workflows, allowing civil servants to focus on delivering the responsive, high-quality services that citizens expect.”

Tim Marczewski, director of AI and innovation for the State of Missouri Office of Administration, said his state is among those already using the platform. “Our citizens expect the government to move at the speed of modern life, not the speed of paperwork,” Marczewski said. “By automating routine work in our workflows, we’re delivering faster, better services to Missourians.”
