Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM)

The NAFA credential covering fleet management across eight disciplines. Broader than public fleet, and earned discipline by discipline.

CAFM is the senior NAFA credential, structured as eight disciplines rather than a single examination: asset management, business management, financial management, information management, maintenance management, professional development, risk management and vehicle fuel management.

The structure is useful even to someone not pursuing it. Those eight headings are a reasonable checklist of what a fleet operation has to do competently, and reading down them is a quick way to find the area nobody in a given fleet currently owns.

It is written for fleet generally rather than for government specifically, so the public-sector particulars, internal service funds, procurement law and surplus disposal, are not its subject.
