Geotab has released four new safety and video capabilities for fleet operations, extending camera compatibility, adding a consolidated safety dashboard, expanding red-light violation detection and introducing a collision investigation workflow.
The largest change to existing deployments is an expanded video coaching rollout. Geotab’s coaching platform, previously built around the GO Focus Plus and GO Focus Pro cameras, now covers Lytx Surfsight AI12 and AI14 cameras and the Xirgo KP2 through the Geotab Marketplace. The extension carries no additional cost for active subscribers and requires no hardware changes. Within the platform, managers can use Smart Sequence and Magnitude Ranking to prioritize events by risk level and connect footage to the correct driver via Smart Driver ID, which matters for fleets running mixed camera environments.
The company is also introducing a Safety Overview Page as a native platform feature. It centers on a 0-100 Safety Metric and adds peer benchmarking, percentile ranking, high-risk driver prioritization, behavior trends and plain-language metric explanations. The page draws on Geotab’s existing safety data rather than new sensors, consolidating what had been distributed across the platform into a single daily-use view. A separate Geotab Investigation workflow lets safety teams review collision-related events alongside driver, vehicle and behavioral context to identify contributing factors and support follow-up coaching. Red-light violation detection is being added to GO Focus Plus and GO Focus Pro cameras, which already flagged illegal U-turns, giving safety teams video-backed documentation for signalized-intersection incidents.
“Every journey matters, and behind every data point is a driver whose safety and wellbeing deserve attention,” said Sabina Martin, Vice President, Product Management at Geotab. “Our latest safety capabilities help fleet managers move from reviewing disconnected information to taking focused action. By bringing risk insights, coaching workflows and investigation tools together, Geotab makes it easier for safety teams to understand what is happening across their fleets and support drivers before risk becomes a collision.”
A Geotab survey found that 86% of U.S. fleet professionals believe the risk of driving collisions has increased over the past five years. Geotab cited two 2026 Innovation Award recipients in connection with the release: Giant Tiger, which the company said reduced preventable collisions by 74% through its safety program, and Northern Logistics, which reached 120,000 safe miles with zero incidents. Geotab did not disclose a release date for the Safety Overview Page beyond characterizing it as forthcoming.
