GM Unveils New In-Cab User Interface for 2027 Silverado and Sierra Pickups
New touchscreen and voice interface debuts on light-duty trucks before expanding across the GM lineup

General Motors will debut a redesigned in-cab user interface on the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra light-duty pickups before extending the platform across the broader GM lineup.
Built on a single scalable software foundation that spans electric, gas and diesel-powered vehicles, the interface unifies hardware, software and design around customer feedback. GM said infotainment is a top driver priority and the new system is engineered to deliver fast access and clear information with fewer menu layers.
The display hardware features high-contrast screens with deeper blacks, richer colors and sharper visual depth across navigation, vehicle status and entertainment. A redesigned home screen defaults to a split-view layout pairing a fully interactive map with secondary information such as trailering metrics, fuel efficiency data or media. The digital driver cluster offers mode-aware layouts for trailering, off-road and Super Cruise operation, with animations that sync to vehicle activity. A next-generation 3D driving visualization renders surrounding traffic, lane markings and road objects in real time when Super Cruise driver assistance is active.
Hands-free activation of Adaptive Cruise Control and Super Cruise is consolidated to a single button press. Incoming calls and messages appear as non-intrusive overlays rather than full-screen takeovers; once a call is accepted, a small timer persists at the top of the display so navigation remains visible. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay content loads in a large card window alongside native GM apps, and drivers can move between the two environments without leaving native trailering or vehicle status screens.
Truck-specific features anchor the software. GM said it remains the only automaker to offer hands-free trailering through Super Cruise, and the new interface automatically activates a dedicated trailering visualization in the instrument cluster and a trailering card on the center screen the moment a trailer is connected. A Hitch View camera assists hook-up without a spotter, underbody camera views help navigate hidden obstacles, and off-road performance data is accessible directly on the center screen. Trailer light checks, including brake lights and turn signals, can be performed through integration between the vehicle and a mobile app.
The 2027 Silverado and Sierra are GM’s highest-volume vehicles, and the company plans to carry the interface architecture to additional models after the light-duty truck launch.
