Schmidt Street King 660 Street Sweeper Offers Fuel Savings in Real-World Use

UK field data highlights consumption differences that add up over intensive operating seasons.

Schmidt is citing UK field data showing the Street King 660 road sweeper can cut fuel costs by up to roughly GBP 200 per operating day (approximately EUR 230), depending on application profile, intensity of use and local operating conditions.

Projected across approximately 156 operating days per year, the company says that per-day figure translates to a potential annual fuel saving of more than EUR 35,000 per unit in fuel costs alone. Schmidt attributes the gains to coordinated design across the drive system, airflow management and operating processes rather than any single component change.

Specific elements cited include aerodynamically optimised suction duct geometry for low-loss material pickup, suction paths balanced for air volume and flow velocity, and a cooling system engineered to run the same engine across varying ambient temperatures worldwide. The company says the cooling design supports consistently efficient operation under a wide range of conditions and allows the same engine to be used globally.

“When evaluating a road sweeper, maximum performance is not the only factor that matters,” the company said in its product literature. “Equally important is how economically that performance can be delivered in day-to-day operation.”

Schmidt noted that actual savings will vary with operating hours, the vehicle previously in use, current fuel prices and local conditions, and that commercial service providers could see fuel reductions affect the profitability of individual contracts. The company did not disclose the names of the UK operators whose data underpins the figures.
