Mobility Program Helps Ventura County Achieve 60% Fleet Utilization

Stating that it is seeking to eliminate the inefficiencies of manual key boxes and high personal mileage reimbursements, Ventura County’s General Services Agency has deployed a program to replace the key boxes and automate its motor pool.
The program is called Ascend by Launch Mobility, and the agency said it has cut personal mileage reimbursements and hit 60 percent fleet utilization at the county’s central government hub.
An administrative team manages its motor pool, which now handles more than 100 daily reservations. Staff members gain access to vehicles by using a dedicated mobile application that automates key access and scheduling.
Public health nurses, social workers and in-home support staff are among the primary users of the motor pool. The county says reliable vehicle access for those workers is a main goal of the platform deployment.
With real-time tracking and usage metrics, GSA gains visibility into where demand is highest, so it can position vehicles more accurately. The county said that has resulted in precise fleet right-sizing and has reduced the financial overhead previously attributed to personal mileage reimbursements.
The contract value and the total number of vehicles managed through the Ascend platform have not yet been announced.
