Whelen has added DVI+ flash patterns to its Core platform at no additional cost, according to a market advisory the company issued Oct. 26, 2026.

The company says DVI+ builds on its SAE-compliant DVI flash pattern technology and delivers “seamless intensity changes that enhance visual clarity, reduce unnecessary glare, and support better communication in dynamic environments.” The advisory lists four benefits: smoother, continuous light intensity adjustments; improved visual clarity and scene awareness; reduced glare during low-light operations; and warning signals that stay clear and recognizable.

The patterns in the advisory’s configuration table are Single Flash, Double Flash, Fadeburst, Quadburst and Half Elliptical, with flash rates of 75 and 60 per minute, day and night modes, and standard and simmer output.

DVI+ has a hardware limit. Whelen says it “is only available with WeCanX products and outputs driven by a Core Control System or a PLF46 Programmable Flasher.” Agencies with Whelen lighting on other controllers will want to confirm eligibility with their dealer.
