Chevrolet Shows 2027 Silverado Police Pursuit Truck With 402-Hp V8 at IACP
The pre-production 9C1 truck moves from a 5.3L to a 5.7L V8, and a source at the show said order banks are open with production tentatively set for June 2027.

Chevrolet’s next police pickup was on display at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Orlando, Florida, where a pre-production 2027 Silverado 1500 with the 9C1 police package showed the truck’s move from a 5.3L V8 to a 5.7L.
A GM Fleet placard beside the truck lists the 5.7L as standard, at 402 hp and 428 pound-feet of torque, with a 10-speed automatic that has a Tow/Haul mode. GM Fleet’s sheet for the 2026 truck lists a 5.3L at 355 hp and 383 pound-feet.
The placard puts maximum trailering at 9,300 pounds and lists an available 2-inch lift that keeps the pursuit rating, along with an available driver’s side LED spotlamp.
Dorian Jzak, an administrator of the Emergency Vehicles Photography Facebook group, photographed the truck and posted on Oct. 25 about when agencies can expect it. “Order banks are open but tentative production start date isn’t until June 2027,” Jzak wrote. That timing comes from Jzak’s post, not the placard, and neither gives a price. GM Fleet’s police page still links the 2026 Silverado 9C1 guide.
How It Has to Be Ordered
The 9C1 package comes only on the Work Truck trim in Crew Cab 4WD form, GM Authority reported. Buyers must also take the 5.7L (RPO code L76), the WT Convenience Package (ZL3) and the Assisted Driving Package (AS2). Automatic engine stop/start is deleted.
What the Package Includes
GM Authority lists this content for the package, with RPO codes in parentheses where it gave them:
- Driveline and chassis: Z71 Off-Road Suspension, automatic locking differential (G80), 2-speed transfer case (NQH), hill descent control (JHD), heavy-duty brakes (JFV), skid plates (NZZ)
- Electrical and cooling: 250-amp alternator (KX4), upfitter module (KGU), extra-capacity cooling system (V03)
- Wheels and tires: 20-inch black painted steel wheels (PXT) with 275/60R20 all-terrain tires (QAE), and a matching spare wheel (RNQ) and tire (RMW)
- Police functions: speedometer calibration (VZ2), additional programmable remotes (AMF), keyless remote panic button with exterior lights and horn disable (5J1), surveillance mode interior lighting (5J3), flasher system (6J7), red/red taillamp flasher (5LO), red/white taillamp flasher (5J9)
The placard describes the brakes as heavy-duty front Brembos and the Z71 suspension as police rated. GM Fleet’s 2026 sheet lists a 220-amp alternator, so the new list’s 250-amp unit is a 30-amp increase.
The Z7X Lift
The display truck wears a Z7X badge on its tailgate. GM Authority said that code is the optional Off-Road Lifted Suspension Package, which adds a factory-installed 2-inch lift and monotube shocks.

In the Cab
GM’s placard lists a 16.3-inch diagonal touchscreen and more than 15 standard safety and driver assistance features.

How the Silverado PPV Tested
Michigan State Police’s preliminary 2027 model year results include two Silverado PPV pickups, a Z71 and a Z7X, without naming the engine. The Z71 reached 60 mph in 6.65 seconds and the Z7X in 6.73 seconds, and both reached a top speed of 112 mph. Ford’s F-150 Police Responder 3.5L EcoBoost, the quickest pickup in the test, reached 60 mph in 5.94 seconds and topped out at 121 mph.
The full MSP results include braking and lap times for every vehicle. Our 2027 Silverado 1500 spec guide covers the retail lineup, including the 5.7L.
